Event Details

As the developer of the nation's first LEED Platinum home—the first Ray Kappe LivingHome—and with over nine LivingHomes in development that are designed to achieve LEED Platinum, LivingHomes is one of the more experienced builders of environmentally conscious homes. Although LivingHomes uses the LEED program for external review and validation, LivingHomes established its own Z6 sustainable building goals, which serve as development goals for each LivingHome, insuring that they have as close as possible to zero negative impact on health and environment. The Z6 goals are Zero Water, Zero Energy, Zero Waste, Zero Emissions, Zero Carbon, and Zero Ignorance.

LivingHomes CEO and Founder Steve Glenn will take his not-critically acclaimed talk back to the West Coast. Steve Glenn will speak about "High Design, Low Impact: Building LivingHomes," at the Design Within Reach studios in Seatlle, WA and Portland, OR. You will learn about materials, finishes, fixtures and systems that radically reduce a building's energy, water, and resource use - and that reduce indoor air pollution.

LivingHomes

LivingHomes is a developer of modern, prefabricated homes that combine world-class architecture with an unparalleled commitment to healthy and sustainable construction.  We offer two lines of single and multi-family designs, one created by Ray Kappe, FAIA, the founder of the Southern California Institute of Architecture, and the other by KieranTimberlake, the AIA 2008 Firm of the Year.  The first LivingHome, designed by Ray Kappe, was the first in the nation to achieve LEED Platinum and was the only home to win the AIA’s top sustainability award in 2007.  Our second home was selected as the Green Home of the Year by Green Builder Magazine.  LivingHomes are available in standard or customized configurations to builders, developers and individuals.
